Frequently asked questions
Good questions.
Straight answers.
Here’s what to know about getting started, checking your takeoff, and choosing a plan.
Getting started
What does SheetMetalAI do?
SheetMetalAI helps HVAC contractors and sheet metal estimators move from a mechanical PDF plan to a reviewed, priced takeoff. It identifies ductwork and fittings, organizes material quantities, applies your pricing, and exports a PDF quote.
Who is it built for?
Independent HVAC contractors, estimating teams, and sheet metal shops that need a clearer workflow for ductwork takeoffs and pricing.
What do I need to get started?
Start with a readable mechanical plan in PDF format and your shop’s material rates. Create an account, upload your plan, and work through the takeoff and review process.
Can someone help me choose a plan?
Yes. Tell the team how many plans you usually estimate, who is involved, and what you need to export. Visit the Contact page or email support@sheetmetalai.com.
Takeoffs & quotes
Can I check and edit the AI results?
Yes. The plan workspace displays color-coded detections for review. You can refine the segmentation and save the results before finalizing your takeoff. Always review the scope, quantities, and pricing before submitting a bid.
Which material quantities can I see?
The workflow includes sheet metal in pounds, liner in square feet, spiral footage, and flex box counts. Review the results against your project scope before you price the job.
Can I use my own pricing?
Yes. Custom pricing tables let you use your shop’s rates. Review your material prices and estimating assumptions so the output reflects the way you quote work.
What can I export?
The current workflow supports a priced PDF quote. If you need another format or a connection to a fabrication or CAD system, contact the team to discuss your requirements.
Plans & billing
How does the free trial work?
Each plan starts with a 3-day free trial. A credit card is required. Review the subscription terms and billing details shown during sign-up before starting your trial.
How do monthly and yearly billing compare?
Monthly plans are $99, $149, and $199. Yearly plans are billed at $1,068, $1,608, and $2,148 per year, equivalent to $89, $134, and $179 per month. Each yearly plan saves about 10% versus twelve monthly payments.
What does the monthly plan capacity mean?
Field Starter, Pro Estimator, and Enterprise Edge provide approximate capacities of 15, 25, and 40 distinct PDF plans per month. Running the same PDF multiple times can reduce how many distinct plans your subscription covers.
Can I cancel my subscription?
The app advertises cancellation at any time. Review your account’s billing settings and subscription terms for cancellation timing and the end of your current billing period.
